Nat Resort Koh Tao is a simple bungalow resort in the heart of Sairee, a very short walk from the beach, restaurants, cafés and dive centres. Its big draw is a genuinely central location at a fairly affordable price, without giving up a green garden and a private veranda. But alongside the excellent location and good value, there are real differences between the room categories, and the facilities are basic.
Nat Resort is in Sairee (Sairee Beach), one of the most sought-after areas to stay on Koh Tao.
Unlike the resorts perched on the hills above the beach, here you are right inside the tourist area, a short distance from the sea and from the streets lined with cafés, restaurants, shops and dive centres.
The address is 10/51 Sairee Beach, and the location is one of the main reasons to choose it.
Despite being so close to the busy part of Sairee, the bungalows sit within a fairly green compound, with plants, paths and verandas.

The result is an appealing mix: the convenience of staying right in the centre of things with the feel of a small tropical hideaway.
It is worth setting your expectations: Nat Resort is not a luxury hotel. It is aimed mainly at travellers looking for a comfortable, simple room in a good location, who are not necessarily keen to pay for a big pool, lavish design or lots of facilities.
Location is Nat Resort's standout advantage.
The compound is a few minutes from Sairee Beach and close to the area's main streets.
According to the location shown on booking sites, Sairee Beach is about 200 metres away and Sairee Plaza about half a kilometre.
That means you can leave your room in the morning, stop at a café, carry on to the beach, browse the shops and walk back without needing any transport.
This matters a lot on Koh Tao, where some hotels are in remote bays or on steep hillsides.
Sairee is one of Koh Tao's main hubs for diving and snorkelling.
The area is full of dive schools, tour agencies and places where you can book activities on the water.
Nat Resort's location suits anyone planning to fit a dive course, snorkelling trips or boat tours into their holiday.
For food and evenings out, you don't need to go far either.
Sairee's cafés and restaurants are within walking distance, so you can pick a different spot every day for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Despite being close to the tourist area, the garden and the bungalows create a relatively calm atmosphere.
But bear in mind that Nat Resort is in a central area.
Sairee is busy during the day, and in the evenings some bars and venues play music.
Noise levels can vary from room to room, depending on where the room sits in the compound and what is going on nearby.
So if you are very sensitive to noise at night, ask for a room in a quieter part of the garden and check its position before you book.
The rooms at Nat Resort are not uniform in size, equipment or comfort.
Some categories are fairly basic bungalows, with simple furniture and traditional Thai design.
Other categories offer more comfortable rooms, with air conditioning, a fridge, a private bathroom and a veranda.
This is something to pay close attention to when you book.
The cheapest rooms suit people who want functional accommodation and plan to spend most of the day out of the hotel.
The design is simple, and facilities may be limited.
Some room types come with a shared bathroom, and certain categories have no air conditioning.
So don't assume every room has air conditioning and a private bathroom.
Especially in Thailand, where the heat and humidity are felt for most of the year, the difference between an air-conditioned room and one with just a fan can make a big difference to how well you sleep.
The upgraded categories include rooms with air conditioning, a private shower and extra facilities.
These rooms may suit you better if you are staying a few nights and want a comfortable room to come back to at the end of the day.
Among other things, it is worth checking the quality of the air conditioning, the state of the mattress, the water pressure in the shower and whether there is a fridge.
In Koh Tao's simpler guesthouse rooms, details like these sometimes matter more than the size of the room itself.
One of the nice things about Nat Resort is the way the bungalows blend into the garden.
Instead of rooms off a corridor in a big hotel, you get units with private verandas or outdoor seating areas.

The verandas let you enjoy the fresh air, sit with a coffee or read a book in green surroundings.
The plants also give the compound a calmer feel than you might expect from a place in the middle of Sairee.
If you like simple bungalows, this can be a real plus.
That said, the green, tropical setting can also bring insects and mosquitoes, so keep doors and windows closed and come prepared.
Cleanliness at Nat Resort is reasonable to good for this type of accommodation, but not entirely consistent.
Not all of the bungalows and simple rooms are new, and in some the furniture and finishes are visibly basic.
Alongside clean, well-kept rooms, there are differences between units in the condition of the furniture, the bathrooms and the fittings.
This is not necessarily a problem if you are after budget-friendly accommodation, but it matters if you expect a polished, modern room.
When you book, look at recent photos of your specific room category, not just photos of the garden and public areas.
Service is one of Nat Resort's strengths.
The atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff help you get organised during your stay.
Services on offer include luggage storage, laundry and help booking activities and trips, subject to availability.
This suits travellers who come to Koh Tao to dive, explore the island and enjoy beach life.
The overall approach is that of a simple, friendly place to stay, not a hotel with concierge services and luxury facilities.
Nat Resort is not about the pool experience, and a swimming pool is not listed among its main facilities.
Its main advantage is how close it is to Sairee Beach.
If you love spending long hours by the pool, with sun loungers and a pool bar, look at other hotels in the area.
On the other hand, if you prefer to spend most of the day on the beach, diving or exploring the island, you may not need a pool at all.
A restaurant is listed among the services on site, but it is worth checking opening hours and what is available during your stay.
Breakfast is not necessarily included with every booking.
The big advantage is that Sairee has a wide range of restaurants and cafés within walking distance.
For travellers who like to start each morning somewhere different, this is a particularly convenient location.
You can sit at a café facing the sea, choose a Western or Thai breakfast and head on from there to the beach or the day's activity.
Absolutely. It is one of the main reasons to choose it.
The hotel is in an area where you can walk to restaurants, shops, cafés, dive centres and the beach.
Unlike the more remote places to stay on Koh Tao, you don't need to plan a ride every time you want to go out to eat or for the evening.
That said, if you want to visit remote bays such as Shark Bay, Tanote Bay or Aow Leuk, you will need suitable transport.
Some of Koh Tao's roads are steep and winding, so don't assume a scooter is right for every traveller. If you don't hold a suitable licence and riding experience, you can use local transport instead.
Nat Resort can suit couples looking for a simple holiday at an affordable price in a central location.
The bungalows and the garden create a fairly pleasant atmosphere, and being close to the beach means you can stroll along the sea or watch the sunset without any travel.
But this is not a hotel that offers a luxurious romantic getaway.
If you are after a beautifully designed room, an indulgent pool and high-end facilities, you may find better options on Koh Tao.
On the other hand, a couple who plan to spend most of the day out and want a comfortable room to return to in the evening can find a good fit here.
Travellers who want to be in the centre of Sairee. The location puts most of the area's key services within walking distance.
Anyone looking for budget-friendly accommodation. The simple rooms can offer good value, depending on the price and the level of equipment.
Travellers coming to dive. Being close to the dive centres and the beach is a clear advantage.
Anyone who likes bungalow resorts and tropical gardens. Thanks to the green surroundings and the verandas, a stay here is more pleasant than in a plain town hotel.
Anyone who doesn't want to rent a scooter. You can enjoy much of Sairee on foot.
Nat Resort is less suited to anyone looking for a luxury holiday, modern rooms and a large swimming pool.
If you are very sensitive to noise, check carefully where your room is within the compound.
If air conditioning, a private bathroom and a particularly comfortable bed matter to you, make sure they are included in the room category you choose.
And if you plan to spend a lot of time at the hotel itself, a resort with more extensive facilities may suit you better.
One of Nat Resort's advantages is that you can stay in a very central part of Koh Tao without having to pick an expensive hotel.
Being near the beach and within walking distance of restaurants and nightlife gives it a real edge.
The price, however, needs to be weighed against the specific room.
A basic room with a fan or a shared bathroom is not the same as an air-conditioned room with a private shower and a veranda.
If the price difference is small, upgrading to a more comfortable room can be worth it, especially for a stay of several nights.
Before you book, compare the room types, the cancellation terms and what is included in the price.
Nat Resort is a simple place to stay whose main advantage is its excellent location in the heart of Sairee.
Being close to the beach, restaurants, cafés and dive centres makes for an easy holiday without needing transport every time you go out.
The garden and the bungalows give the compound a pleasant tropical character, but the rooms are not uniform and the facilities are basic.
It suits people who would rather spend their money on experiences, beaches and trips around Koh Tao than on the hotel itself.
Nat Resort is a good option for travellers who want to stay in Sairee, very close to the sea and at a fairly affordable price. The key to a successful booking is choosing the right room category.
The hotel is in the Sairee Beach area of Koh Tao, at 10/51 Sairee Beach, a very short walk from the beach and the main streets.
The compound is very close to Sairee Beach, a few minutes' walk away. Not every room faces the sea.
A swimming pool is not listed as a confirmed main facility of the hotel. Its main advantage is how close it is to the beach.
Not necessarily. There are different room types, so check explicitly whether your room has air conditioning or just a fan.
Not in every booking category. Check whether the room comes with a private shower or a shared bathroom.
