Homm Chura Samui, also known as Chura Samui, is a four-star boutique hotel at the northern end of Chaweng Beach in Koh Samui. It combines tropical gardens, rooms in a contemporary Thai style and a white infinity pool looking out to sea. Its standout advantage is a fairly relaxed resort atmosphere without being far from Chaweng's restaurants, shops and evening life. That said, the differences between room types are significant, some facilities are dated, and the beach in front changes a lot between high and low tide.
Chura Samui - a small hotel with character
The northern part of Chaweng Beach is home to some of Koh Samui's more interesting boutique hotels. The area offers an easy mix of beach holiday and closeness to the island's tourist centre, but it feels calmer than the busy nightlife strips.
Chura Samui fits well into this setting.
It is a resort with 65 rooms and suites, spread across low-rise buildings, gardens and paths leading down towards the sea.

The design is different from traditional Thai resorts with carved furniture and heavy roofs. Here the lines are more modern, with wood, earthy tones and natural materials.
The public areas are fairly open and blend planting with clean architectural elements. The grounds feel more intimate than a large hotel, even if getting from your room to the pool may mean a walk through the garden.
One of its loveliest features is the infinity pool at the edge of the grounds, right in front of the Gulf of Thailand.
The location - north Chaweng, close to the centre but quieter
Chura Samui is at 99/9 Moo 2, on Chaweng Beach Road.
On the one hand, it is close to restaurants, cafes, convenience stores and massage places. On the other, it is not right in the middle of Chaweng's busy club and bar area.
You can walk to many places, and the hotel gives a walking time of about 10-15 minutes to central Chaweng.
That is a real advantage if you do not want to hire a scooter or call a taxi every time you leave the hotel.
In the evening you can wander around, pick a restaurant and walk back.
Bear in mind, though, that the main road is very busy with cars and motorbikes, and in places the pavements are narrow or broken.
Is the location right if you want quiet?
The grounds are partly set back from the road and surrounded by greenery, so the atmosphere is calmer than on the street outside.
But this is still Chaweng, one of Koh Samui's main tourist areas.
If you want somewhere completely secluded, away from nightlife and traffic, you may prefer areas such as Maenam or quieter bays.
If you want a mix of relative quiet and the option of going out in the evening, Chura's location works well.
The rooms - the difference between categories really matters
Chura Samui offers several categories of rooms and suites, and the differences in size are significant.
The rooms are decorated in wood and earth tones, with balconies or terraces, air conditioning, a TV, a fridge, a safe and tea and coffee facilities.
The larger rooms also have roomy seating areas and large bathrooms.
Before booking, pay attention not only to the view but also to the size of the room.
Deluxe King - a compact double room
The Deluxe King is the entry-level category, at about 22 sq m.
The room has a double bed, a bathroom and a garden view.
It suits people who plan to spend most of the day out of the room, on the beach or by the pool, and mainly need a comfortable place to sleep.
But compared with the hotel's larger rooms, the difference is very noticeable.
At 22 sq m it is not particularly generous, especially if you arrive with two suitcases and are staying several nights.
So it is worth looking carefully at the price difference between this and the Grand Deluxe rooms.
Grand Deluxe - a spacious 44 sq m room
The Grand Deluxe category offers about 44 sq m, almost double the basic room.
The rooms have a king bed or two singles, a private balcony or terrace and a garden view.
The design is simple and pleasant, with wood, modern furniture and a roomy bathroom.
For a couple planning to spend a few nights on Koh Samui, it is a much more comfortable option than the basic room.
There is space for suitcases, for getting ready and for sitting in the room without feeling cramped.
In some rooms an extra bed or a cot can be added, subject to the hotel's terms.
Grand Deluxe Sea View - a sea view
The Grand Deluxe Sea View rooms are also about 44 sq m.
The difference is the location and the view from the balcony.
These rooms look out towards the sea, alongside the greenery of the grounds.
It is a good option if you want a spacious room and would like a view of the bay too.
Remember that even a sea-view room is not necessarily in the first row facing the beach. The exact position affects the angle of the view and how much greenery and neighbouring buildings are in it.
One Bedroom Garden Suite - a 70 sq m suite
The garden suites offer a lot of space, at about 70 sq m.
They have a sleeping area, a sitting area, a large bathroom and a balcony or terrace facing the tropical garden.
It is an interesting option for couples who love a large room and plan to spend some time in it during the day too.
The space suits a longer stay, when the room is not just somewhere to sleep but also a place to rest and get organised comfortably.
One Bedroom Sea View Suite - a spacious suite with a sea view
This is one of the most interesting categories in the hotel.
The suite offers about 70 sq m, with a sitting area, a bedroom and a balcony or terrace looking towards the sea.
The advantage is the combination of plenty of space and a view.
If you are after a more indulgent stay, it is a particularly good option for a few nights.
That said, the hotel does not focus on villas with private pools. If you want a pool right by your room, you will find better options at other hotels in north Chaweng.
The infinity pool - one of the hotel's loveliest features
Chura Samui's pool is one of the things the place is best known for.
It is a light-tiled infinity pool at the edge of the grounds, facing the sea.

The blue water, the pale pool edge and the view of the bay make it a particularly beautiful spot.
Around the pool there are sun loungers and seating areas, and there is a bar nearby where you can order drinks.
The pool is not especially large, but its position facing the beach largely makes up for the size.
You can spend hours here with a book or a drink, enjoying the view and moving between the pool and the beach.
Is the pool suitable for families?
The pool works for families too, but Chura is not a resort built around big water features for children.
Its main appeal is the relaxed atmosphere and the view, not slides or poolside activities.
For families with older children who mainly want a pool and a beach, it can work. For families looking for lots of children's activities, Koh Samui has other options.
The beach - beautiful, but not always good for swimming
Chura is right on the beach, and that is a significant advantage.
You can walk out of the grounds onto the sand and enjoy an open view of the Gulf of Thailand.

But it is important to understand beach conditions in north Chaweng.
In this part of the island the tides have a big effect on the width of the sand and the depth of the water.
At low tide the water can be very shallow, so you have to walk a long way out to reach a depth you can swim in.
At high tide, on the other hand, the strip of sand can become very narrow and sometimes almost disappears in places.
So it is a pleasant beach for walking, sunbathing and spending time by the water, but not always ideal if you want to get in and swim for hours.
The hotel pool is a convenient alternative on days when sea conditions are less suitable for swimming.
Breakfast - a pleasant spread facing the sea
Breakfast at the hotel is a buffet, with a selection of Western and Asian dishes.
You will find eggs, fruit, breads, hot dishes and other options that change with the menu.
The green setting and the closeness to the sea add to the atmosphere.
Breakfast gets plenty of positive reviews, mainly for the service, the coffee and a choice that is ample for a boutique hotel of this size.
That said, this is not the huge dining room of a big resort, and the range may be narrower than at five-star hotels.
If you like to start the day with a relaxed meal before heading to the beach, it is a pleasant part of the stay.
A restaurant and bar facing the sea
The hotel has restaurant and bar areas, including Chura @ BAR.
You can order Thai and international food, light snacks and drinks, and sit close to the pool and the beach.
It is especially handy on days when you do not feel like leaving the hotel.
But one of the advantages of being in Chaweng is the huge choice of restaurants outside the grounds.
Within walking distance there are Thai restaurants, cafes and international restaurants.
If you like discovering new places to eat rather than relying only on the hotel restaurant, that is a significant advantage.
Design and atmosphere - contemporary Thai with a tropical garden
Chura is designed in a style that combines local elements with modern lines.
The paths wind between trees and planting, and the buildings blend into the garden.
The design is not especially lavish; it relies on natural materials, calm tones and open spaces.
The overall atmosphere suits people who prefer a small hotel with character, without a vast lobby and crowded entertainment areas.
That said, some rooms and facilities show signs of use, and maintenance is not consistent across all units.
Reviews occasionally mention shower water pressure, air conditioning, limited storage space and other maintenance details.
So it is best to think of Chura as a pleasant four-star boutique hotel rather than a new luxury hotel.
Renovation and room upgrades in 2026
Between 10 September and 18 December 2026 the hotel is carrying out room upgrade and improvement works.
The work is taking place in certain parts of the grounds, between 10:00 and 17:00.
There may be intermittent noise during this period.
Guests staying during this time receive a credit of 500 baht (about $15 / €13) per room per day to use at Chura @ BAR, subject to terms.
If you plan to stay during the upgrade period, choose a room as far as possible from the work areas, especially if you intend to spend a large part of the day at the hotel.
The service - one of Chura's strong points
Service is one of the hotel's standout strengths.
The staff score highly for courtesy, personal attention and willingness to help.
Reception is open 24 hours a day, and the staff can help arrange trips, transfers and activities.
Cleanliness also scores fairly well, although the standard of maintenance may vary between rooms.
The personal touch suits the atmosphere of a smaller boutique hotel, where it is fairly easy to get help and talk to the staff.
Gym and massages
Chura has a gym with basic fitness equipment.
Massages and relaxation treatments are also available.
These facilities round out the stay, but they are not the hotel's main draw.
If you are looking for a resort with a large spa, many treatment rooms and a range of wellness facilities, you may prefer another option.
Chura's main strengths remain its location, the pool facing the sea and the relaxed atmosphere.
Accessibility - stairs and paths within the grounds
The grounds are made up of several low-rise buildings connected by footpaths and stairs.
Some rooms are on upper floors reached by stairs.
For travellers with large suitcases, pushchairs or difficulty walking, this is an important consideration.
The walk through the gardens to the pool and the beach may also be less convenient if you prefer a room very close to all the facilities.
If accessibility matters to you, choose a ground-floor room in a fairly convenient position.
Is Chura Samui good for couples?
Yes. In fact, it is one of the types of holiday the hotel suits best.
The large Grand Deluxe rooms and suites, the tropical gardens and the pool facing the sea make for a calm, pleasant holiday.
The location lets you go out to a restaurant in the evening and walk back without depending on a car.
For a couple looking for a beachfront boutique hotel at a more accessible price than some of the luxury hotels in north Chaweng, it is worth considering.
That said, if you want a suite with a private pool or particularly luxurious design, you may prefer another hotel.
Is the hotel suitable for families?
Chura can suit small families, mainly in the Grand Deluxe rooms and the suites.
The larger rooms offer the option of an extra bed or a cot, depending on the category and booking terms.
The pool and the closeness to the beach also suit a relaxed family holiday.
But this is not a resort with a large kids' club, a water park or a wide range of activities.
Families with young children should also take the stairs and paths within the grounds into account.
For families who mainly want a comfortable room, a pool and a beach, Chura may suit. For families who want lots of entertainment facilities, Koh Samui has other options.
How does Chura compare with other hotels in north Chaweng?
North Chaweng has several boutique hotels and resorts, each with a different character.
LA VIDA Samui is a fairly small hotel with modern design, compact entry-level rooms and a pool facing the sea. By comparison, Chura's Grand Deluxe rooms are larger.
Sareeraya Villas & Suites offers particularly large suites of about 70 sq m even in its core categories, along with pool-access rooms and private villas. It is aimed more at people looking for space and a luxurious stay.
SALA Samui Chaweng focuses on a designed luxury experience, with private pools, restaurants and higher-end suites.
The Briza Beach Resort offers family duplexes and villas with private pools, but it is a larger, terraced property with older design.
Chura suits people who mainly want a calm boutique hotel, a beautiful pool facing the sea and a convenient location, rather than a private villa or a lavish resort.
The downsides - what you need to know before booking
The basic room is small: the Deluxe King is only 22 sq m, while the other categories are much roomier.
The beach changes a lot with the tides: you cannot always swim comfortably in front of the hotel.
Some rooms are dated: there are gaps in maintenance and in the standard of fittings between different units.
Stairs and accessibility: some rooms are on upper floors reached by stairs.
The pool is not especially large: it is very beautiful thanks to its position facing the sea, but not right if you want a huge pool complex.
Upgrade works during 2026: guests arriving during the works may come across noise during the day.
Who is Chura Samui best for?
Couples: comfortable rooms, a pool facing the sea and a relaxed atmosphere.
Anyone who would rather not hire a car: restaurants and shops are within walking distance.
Anyone looking for a small boutique hotel: only 65 rooms and grounds surrounded by greenery.
Anyone who loves a pool with a view: the infinity pool facing the beach is one of its big advantages.
Travellers who want relative quiet in Chaweng: the location at the northern end of the beach is further from the busy nightlife areas.
Who should choose a different hotel?
Chura is less suitable if you want a particularly luxurious hotel with villas and private pools.
Families looking for lots of children's activities may also prefer a larger family resort.
If it matters to you to be able to get into the sea and swim comfortably at any time, check the beach conditions carefully.
Travellers with limited mobility need to consider the room's position and the stairs.
And if you plan to spend most of the day at the hotel during the upgrade works, factor in the possibility of noise.
Is Chura Samui good value for money?
Chura sits in the mid-range of north Chaweng hotels.
It offers spacious rooms in the upgraded categories, a beautiful pool facing the sea, beach access and friendly service.
On the other hand, some rooms and facilities are not new, and the hotel does not offer a wide range of luxury facilities.
The value is especially good when the price gap between it and luxury hotels such as SALA and Sareeraya is significant.
When the price gets close to that of newer hotels, however, compare the room size, the view and the facilities before booking.
The best-value choice here is not necessarily the cheapest room. A 44 sq m Grand Deluxe can often offer far better value than the basic Deluxe room.
The bottom line - should you book Chura Samui?
Chura Samui is a pleasant boutique hotel in north Chaweng, with tropical gardens, a beautiful infinity pool facing the sea and a location that lets you combine a beach holiday with restaurants and shopping.
Its main strengths are the service, the relaxed atmosphere and the spacious Grand Deluxe rooms and suites.
Its main drawbacks are the small basic room, the changeable swimming conditions on the beach and maintenance that is not consistent across all units.
If you are looking for a fairly small hotel with a pool facing the sea and a convenient location in Chaweng, Chura is a good option to look into. We would book at least a Grand Deluxe room, and compare its price with the other hotels at the northern end of the beach before deciding.
