Banana Fan Sea Resort
Also in Chaweng, a resort with an infinity pool facing the sea - about 10,900 THB (about $324 / €288) in our search
A Thai garden resort in the heart of Chaweng - two pools, a kids' club and the beach, with restaurants and nightlife within walking distance.
Chaweng Regent Beach Resort is a four-star resort on Chaweng Beach on Koh Samui, with two swimming pools, tropical gardens, rooms and suites for families, a kids' club and a spa. Its big advantage is the location: direct access to the sea and a green, fairly relaxed atmosphere inside the grounds on one side, and restaurants, shops and nightlife within walking distance on the other. The main drawbacks are the noise of planes passing close to the hotel, differences in the condition of the rooms, and beach conditions that change with the tide and the season.
In March 2025, during our time on Koh Samui, we spent a day wandering along Chaweng Beach and getting to know the hotels on it. Chaweng Regent was one of the hotels we went through.
What stood out for us was the Thai design and the feeling that the hotel is built inside a tropical garden. The walkways between the low buildings, the greenery and the atmosphere inside create an interesting contrast with the busy street outside the hotel.
The hotel is at 155/4 Chaweng Beach, in the central-northern part of the Chaweng strip, on the east coast of Koh Samui.
It's a particularly convenient location if you want to combine a beach holiday with the option of going out in the evening.
The hotel entrance is on Chaweng Beach Road, one of the island's main tourist streets. Along the street there are cafes, Thai and international restaurants, bars, shops, massage places and other businesses for tourists.
On the other side of the grounds you reach the beach directly.
The advantage is that you don't have to rent a car or a scooter to enjoy the immediate area. You can spend the day at the pool and in the sea, and walk out to a restaurant or the shops in the evening.
According to the hotel's website, Samui airport is about 15 minutes' drive away, depending on traffic.
This is one of the hotel's more interesting features.

The entrance is on a fairly busy street, but once you're inside the grounds you come to shaded paths, gardens and pools.
Many guests describe this difference as a plus. They enjoy having restaurants and nightlife close at hand, but feel the hotel itself offers a place to come back to and rest.
That said, total quiet can't be guaranteed. The proximity to the airport flight path and to Chaweng's nightlife can be felt in some rooms.
Chaweng Regent isn't a modern hotel with a tall room tower. Much of the accommodation is in low-rise buildings and villas scattered through the gardens.

Between the buildings run walkways, tropical plants and palm trees, which give the place a green, pleasant atmosphere.
It's a style of hotel that particularly suits people who like places with a Thai character and aren't specifically looking for minimalist, cutting-edge design.
Reviews also often mention the gardens as one of the place's strengths.
Still, bear in mind that this is a fairly long-established resort, with several room categories built or renovated at different times. So the experience can vary from room to room.
Some guests describe attractive, well-maintained rooms, while others feel certain rooms need refreshing.
The hotel is right on Chaweng Beach, with access from the pool and the restaurant to the strip of sand.

Chaweng Beach is one of Koh Samui's best-known beaches, thanks to its pale sand, palm trees and the choice of hotels and beach clubs along it.
The stretch where Chaweng Regent sits is good for spending time by the sea, walking along the beach and swimming when conditions allow.
One advantage is being able to move easily between the pool and the beach, without leaving the grounds or crossing a road.
In hotel photos the beach usually looks wide and beautiful, but in reality the strip of sand changes with the tides.
Some guest reviews, especially from times when the sea is high, mention that the beach in front of the hotel was narrower than expected.
Other guests describe a lovely beach with fairly shallow water at low tide, which lets you walk into the sea gradually.
There are also stretches where rocks or an uneven seabed make swimming less comfortable.
So we wouldn't promise that the sea will be perfect for swimming every day. It's worth checking swimming conditions during your stay and paying attention to warning flags and local guidance.
The hotel is in a central tourist area, and the beach itself is public.
Even so, hotel guests can use seating areas and sun loungers next to the beach pool.
At busy times there are reviews about sun loungers being claimed early in the morning. It's worth bearing in mind if you're planning to spend long hours by the water.
Chaweng Regent has two fairly large pools, each in a different part of the grounds.

This is one of its strengths, because guests can choose between a pool near the beach and a pool surrounded by gardens.
The Beach Pool is next to the hotel restaurant and the beach.
According to the hotel's website, it covers about 270 sq m and includes a separate children's area about 55 cm deep.
This is the pool that particularly suits people who want to combine sitting by the sea, swimming in the pool and going down to the beach.
The Garden Pool is in the more inner part of the resort, surrounded by greenery and accommodation buildings.
Its reported size is about 440 sq m, and it also has an area for children, about 75 cm deep.
There's also a drinks bar by the pool, so you can spend a few relaxed hours here.
Both pools are advertised as open from 07:00 to 19:00, but it's worth checking the hours during your stay.
Yes. Both pools have shallow areas for children, but the main pools are deeper.
It's important to supervise children even in the shallow areas, and to check swimming rules with the hotel.
For families, the two pools give welcome variety during the holiday. You can spend the morning by the sea and the afternoon in the garden area.
The hotel offers a wide range of rooms, from fairly small villas to large suites with a sea view.
This is one of those places where it's important not to settle for the general hotel photos, because the gap between room categories is significant.
The Deluxe Villa is one of the hotel's basic categories.
It's about 28 sq m, has a king-size bed and faces the green surroundings of the grounds.
It's an option for people who prefer to spend most of the day on the beach and by the pool and don't need a particularly large room.
Deluxe Regency rooms are about 38-40 sq m, with a choice of a king-size bed or two separate beds.
Some rooms have a garden view and others a pool view.
The rooms include a sofa that can serve as an extra bed, and in some categories you can book connecting rooms.
This can be a good option for a small family, but it's worth checking the actual sleeping arrangements in advance.
Premier rooms offer about 50 sq m and a view of the tropical gardens.
They suit people who want a more spacious room, especially for a holiday of several nights.
Connecting rooms are also available, subject to availability.
Grand Premier rooms are about 53-65 sq m.
They have a balcony or terrace, and some have an outdoor daybed.
This is an interesting option if you plan to spend time in the room itself and enjoy the surroundings.
The Deluxe Family room is about 51 sq m.
It has a double bed and bunk beds for children, with some separation between the parents' area and the children's area.
The room also has an indoor jacuzzi and a bathroom with a shower.
It's one of the options that suits families who want to stay in one room without booking two separate units.
The Grand Premier Family category offers about 70-80 sq m.
It suits families with children or small groups who need extra sleeping options and more space.
The Spa Villa suite has about 65 sq m, a private terrace and an outdoor jacuzzi.
It's an option that particularly suits couples looking for a romantic holiday who want to enjoy relative privacy within the resort.
Before booking, though, it's worth checking how private the jacuzzi is from the walkways.
The hotel's large suites offer about 109 sq m, a bedroom, a separate living room and a seating area.
The Grand Royal Suite Beachfront also has a sea view and a jacuzzi bath.
These options suit people looking for a particularly indulgent stay who are prepared to pay for it.
For a couple coming for an active beach holiday, we would start by comparing the Deluxe Regency with the Premier Room.
If the price difference isn't big, a more spacious, upgraded room can justify the extra spend.
For families we would focus on the Deluxe Family or the Grand Premier Family.
But just as important as the size of the room is its actual condition.
Because guest reviews are mixed about room maintenance, we recommend asking about recently renovated rooms and making sure you get the exact category you booked.
Yes, very much so.
The hotel offers two pools with children's areas, family rooms, a kids' club, babysitting services and various activities.
This is a significant advantage compared with adults-only boutique hotels or party hotels in central Chaweng.
According to the hotel's website, the kids' club is for ages 4-11 and is open from 10:00 to 18:00.
The club has games and various activities, and lets children enjoy time that isn't only about the pool and the beach.
Family reviews from February 2026 spoke well of the playroom, the staff and the activities for children.
Still, it's important to check in advance which activities are included in the price, whether a parent needs to be present and what the policy is for younger children.
The hotel advertises babysitting for an extra charge.
The facilities price list shows a rate of 350 baht (about $10 / €9) per hour, with a minimum booking of four hours. The price may change and should be confirmed before booking.
You can stay here with young children, but it's worth checking in advance about a cot, the room type, steps on the way to the pool and the distances between facilities.
For families with babies we would prefer a room in a fairly accessible spot, rather than one that means long walks within the grounds.
Chom Talay is Chaweng Regent's main restaurant.
It faces the beach and serves breakfast as well as Thai and international meals through the day.
Sitting facing the sea is one of the place's strengths, especially in the morning.
Many reviews praise the breakfast, the variety and being able to start the day facing the beach.
Guests who stayed in 2026 speak well of the choice and the service at the restaurant.
The grounds also have the Red Fish restaurant, mentioned in guest reviews as another option for a meal.
The official website also shows a note about a temporary closure next to it, under its former name Red Snapper, so it's worth checking that it's open before planning a meal there.
The hotel also offers drinks service by the pools, including cocktails, shakes and soft drinks.
It's a handy option for holiday days when you'd rather stay within the grounds.
That said, prices at resorts of this type can be higher than at the local restaurants and bars outside the hotel.
The hotel spa offers Thai massage, body treatments and facials.
Many guests speak well of it, especially the atmosphere and the professionalism of the therapists.
It's an option if you want a treatment in a more organised and quieter setting than the massage places on the street.
The hotel gym is fairly compact and has basic equipment for strength training and exercise.
The advertised opening hours are 06:00-22:00.
One of the interesting things in recent guest reviews is the range of organised activities.
Guests who stayed in 2026 describe Pilates, stretching and Muay Thai classes, along with other activities held at the hotel.
Some reviews particularly praise the Muay Thai instructors and how the classes are adapted to different fitness levels.
There are also activities such as Thai cooking workshops and fruit carving, depending on the current programme.
It's worth checking what's on during your dates and what costs extra.
The location is one of the hotel's most significant advantages, especially if you want to enjoy a holiday without a car.
The Central Samui shopping centre is in the heart of Chaweng, within walking distance of the hotel.
The mall has fashion shops, cafes, restaurants and air-conditioned spaces.
It's a good option for the hottest hours or for a day when the weather is less suited to the beach.
The hotel is close to Chaweng's nightlife area, so you can walk out to bars, restaurants and some of the beach clubs.
One of the best-known places in the area is ARKbar, which offers beach parties, DJs and fire shows.
The Green Mango area is also in central Chaweng and draws travellers looking for nightlife.
Even so, Chaweng Regent isn't a party hotel in its own right, and the atmosphere inside the grounds is usually calmer.
Along Chaweng Beach Road there are Thai and international restaurants, cafes and the restaurants of nearby hotels.
The advantage is that you can pick a different place to eat every evening, without depending on the resort restaurant.
The area also has Italian and Indian restaurants, alongside Thai restaurants serving fish and seafood.
Because there are so many options, we wouldn't rush to book a package that includes all meals without comparing the price first.
The hotel's location makes it easy to head out on day trips around the island.
You can visit Chaweng Noi beach, Lamai and Silver Beach, go to Bophut and Fisherman's Village, or combine a visit to the Big Buddha and Wat Plai Laem temples.
According to the official website, the hotel also helps book tours and transfers.
Chaweng has a wide range of hotels, and comparing them is especially important because they're in the same area but offer different experiences.
A Thai-style resort with gardens, bungalows and two pools.
It's close to the nightlife spots of central Chaweng and offers accommodation for families.
By comparison, Chaweng Regent offers a kids' club, a spa and organised activities.
A party hotel that combines accommodation with a busy beach club, DJs and fire shows.
It suits people who come to Koh Samui mainly for the nightlife.
Chaweng Regent is better suited to people who want to enjoy central Chaweng but sleep in a resort focused on a beach holiday.
A larger hotel in north Chaweng, with three wings, pools and a kids' club.
Some of the rooms at the Amari are across the road from the beach, whereas at Chaweng Regent the accommodation stretches from the road down towards the beach.
For families, both hotels can be good options, but it's worth comparing the room category, where the pool is and the distance to the beach.
A modern hotel with a sociable, young feel, a pool and shared spaces.
It particularly suits travellers looking for a livelier atmosphere.
Guest reviews are mostly positive, but a few topics come up frequently.
The main strengths are the location, the service, the breakfast, the gardens and the pools.
Many guests praise the staff and describe personal attention, help with planning activities and a willingness to deal with special requests.
Families also speak well of the kids' club and the spacious rooms.
Because the airport is close, planes pass over the area during operating hours.
Some guests barely mention it, while others describe the noise as very disturbing.
If you're sensitive to noise, take this into account, especially if you plan to spend a lot of time at the pool or in your room during the day.
Reviews are mixed about the condition of the rooms.
Some guests describe clean, spacious, comfortable rooms, while others mention dated furniture or rooms in need of renovation.
So it's worth checking the room type and asking, if possible, for a renovated room.
At busy times there are reviews about sun loungers being claimed early in the morning, some crowding at breakfast and noise from children in the shared areas.
That doesn't necessarily make the hotel less suitable for families, but couples looking for total quiet may prefer a smaller boutique hotel.
In an Agoda search we ran as part of comparing Koh Samui hotel prices, for 8-14 February 2027, Chaweng Regent came up at about 10,900 THB (about $324 / €288) a night, including taxes and fees as shown at the time of the check.
This is a sample price, not a current booking offer.
The actual price varies with the season, availability and room type.
On the site's price scale, the hotel falls into the "luxury" category - about 9,200 THB and up (about $274 / €243 and up) per night.
Keep in mind that the price doesn't necessarily reflect the highest room category.
Before booking, it's worth comparing the Deluxe Regency, Premier and family categories, and checking the total price with breakfast and a cancellation option.
Families with children: this is one of the hotel's main audiences, thanks to the two pools, the kids' club, the family rooms and the activities.
Couples who want to combine the beach with going out: you can enjoy the sea and the tropical grounds, then head out to restaurants and bars in central Chaweng in the evening.
Travellers who don't want to rent a car: the location lets you walk to a wide range of restaurants, shops and services.
People who like Thai-style hotels: the gardens, the villas and the low-rise buildings give the place a different character from modern hotels.
The hotel is less suited to people who are very sensitive to plane noise, people looking for an adults-only hotel, or travellers who prefer a small, intimate resort.
Anyone expecting rooms with completely new design should also check the room category carefully.
Chaweng Regent offers a convenient combination of a resort holiday and Chaweng's central location.
The Thai character of the grounds and the paths through the gardens stood out for us, and there's also the option of moving between the beach pool and the inner pool.
The significant advantages are the location, the two pools, the children's facilities and the wide choice of rooms.
The drawbacks are the plane noise, differences in how well the rooms are maintained and the possibility of crowds at peak times.
In our eyes, Chaweng Regent particularly suits families and couples who want to sleep in the heart of Chaweng but enjoy the atmosphere of a tropical resort rather than a party hotel.
If we were booking a room here, we would make a point of choosing the right category and checking in advance where it is in the grounds, especially if quiet and privacy are important considerations.
